Up to me throughout the years, I don’t think anyone would mind in the least. I have been very tempted to sneak in and warm up when the wind is hollowing and the snow is coming down like crazy.Ĭonsidering that “my girls” have spent quite a bit of time cuddled I love to see the pigs come out of their beds and watch the steam billowing out behind them. We have many days during the winter where the weather gets or stays below zero degrees F. Out to feed in the mornings, I am amazed at how warm the pigs are when they are coming out of their shelters. We have found that the straw provides the best bedding because it has more loft than hay, and therefore, provides a better overall warmth. We have found that we normally re-bed every couple of weeks in the winter. Because there is no floor in the A-frames, the piglets will naturally get iron as they play and nose along the ground.ĭuring the cold winter months, the A-frames have straw in them to provide warmth. If the straw is too fluffy, then the newborn piglets may get hidden under it and they can potentially get laid on because the sow doesn’t see them. It also gives her time to lie on it and flatten it down slightly. This will allow her to have time to move things around, reposition the straw the way she wants, and make a nice nest. If you can get the straw into the A-frame a few days prior to your sow delivering. When we farrow in the A-frame pig shelters, we fill it full of straw. If you make the A-frame too narrow, it won’t allow adequate space along the edges. The A-frame shape allows a great spot for the piglets to get away from their mom when she lies down. Because of her height, her back will hit higher up on the side of the ceiling section and when she lies down, she will still have ample space behind her for the piglets. The shape of the A-frame is such that as the sow starts to lie down, her back will hit the side and she will lie down at that point. To get the exact shape of the back-plywood sections, I like to just stand my last sheet up next to the back and trace the outline.ĭifferent measurements can very easily be used, but we have found that the measurements we have provided allow for an A-frame that is tall enough to accommodate the majority of our full-grown adult Idaho Pasture pigs, and wide enough to allow ample room for a sow and piglets. If you overlap the top of the right side over the left (or vice versa) and screw it down tight, it makes the top angle nearly waterproof. To get the exact measurement of these two boards, I recommend measuring the space once all of the other boards are in place.Īfter the frame is built, it is easiest if you have a helper so that the full sheets of plywood can get attached correctly. The top of these boards is cut at a 45-degree angle again to allow for it to lay flat onto the top peak board,īut the bottom is left square to sit onto the angle of the 89.5-inch board. The last two boards are support boards and will run from top to bottom at the middle of the 89.5-inch board and the top peak board. I put these boards in place, I like to follow the angle of the 48-inch boards so that the plywood will lay flat when it is put on. These sections will be positioned on either side of the shelter running between the front and back triangle sections you just built. There are four more pieces to cut now with two being cut at 89.5-inches. I cut these pieces at a 45-degree angle on both sides to allow them to fit snug to both the bottom section as well as the top peak section. The measurements we use are one 8-foot 2×4 across the top peak, two 2x4s cut at 65 inches (one for the front and one for the back bottom sections), four 2x4s cut at 48-inches (two for the front and two for the back sections running from the bottom to the top and completing a triangle shape). We do not put any floors into our A-frame pig shelters. This encourages end users to buy into the solution and reduces surprises once the system is put into place.Įach use case is designed specifically to cover only one application of the system. This includes customers, users, and executives.ĭuring the early planning stages, you should involve whichever roles are best suited to solve the problem at hand. A user case should be understandable to all stakeholders, not only developers and testers, because they are mostly narrative prose. Use cases concentrate on the system’s users rather than the system itself. What is a use case designed to do?Ī use case is designed to reveal system demands early on in the process. This set of improved use cases gives the development team the insight it needs to start designing, creating, and testing the product and its features. Product developers frequently add technical and design elements to provide crucial context. These are then passed to developers to guide decision-making during the product development process. The user-focused use cases are primarily concerned with the user and their objectives. Product managers typically document user-focused use cases whereas developers document product-focused use cases. Product managers and developers employ use cases in a similar manner: as a design tool to specify how the system will react to user activities. Product management, product development, and product testing domains all use the use case methodology. Use cases are frequently employed in software development environments to simplify complicated concepts, but they can be just as important in project management for gathering requirements and defining a project’s scope. Many organizations leverage use case modeling tools - such as Miro, LucidChart, and SmartDraw, for some examples - to write or visually represent a use case. Companies build use cases to establish success scenarios, failure scenarios, and any important variants or exceptions. What is a use case?Ī use case is a description of how a user interacts with a system or product. To use the template, select File > Make a copy from the top menu bar. If you’d like to write your own use case while following along with this article, here is a free use case template. We’ll also look at some use case examples to show what they look like in practice. In this guide, we’ll define what a use case is, describe the elements therein and what they are designed to do, and walk through how to build a use case step by step. This can include a description of the product’s users, how they interact with the product, and what it does.Ī great way to visually represent this information is by creating a use case. For requirements collection and high-level stakeholder communication, product managers need to be able to describe how a consumer will interact with a system or product. In Europa Universalis IV Castile is well-positioned to be a major player in politics both in Europe and around the world. Historically, Castile joined with Aragon in a personal union to form Spain and went on to establish a massive colonial empire in the Caribbean, Mexico and South America. It is one of the recommended country starts for new players. The kingdom of Castile in 1444 is the largest and most influential country in the Iberian peninsula, bordering Portugal, Aragon, Navarra, Granada, England and (indirectly) Morocco, Tlemcen and France. While Castile lacks the seafaring tradition of neighboring Portugal they have just as good access to the Atlantic Ocean and the new trade routes that are opening up to the west and south-east. If the kingdom can be united by a strong ruler, and the Reconquista completed, Castile will have a fearsome military force in its hands with a long tradition of fighting for the expansion of the Christian faith. Factions acting entirely out of their own interests have not shied away from supporting foreign pretenders from Portugal and Aragon in the past. The Castilian Nobles and the local Cortes of the various constituent kingdoms still hold a large degree of power and many Trastámara kings have found themselves at the mercy of the estates of their kingdoms. Surrounded on all sides by Castilian castles it seems to be a matter of time before the Reconquista is brought to its logical conclusion and the kingdom is annexed.įor now however Castile has problems of its own. What remains of the Moorish presence in Iberia is now restricted to the southern kingdom of Granada, still a rich Muslim sultanate in many ways but also marred by infighting and the frequent border skirmishes with Christian raiders. Shaped in the battles of the Reconquista, the Crown of Castile is in fact not just one kingdom but a union of the kingdoms of Castile, León, Toledo, Galicia, Murcia, Jaén, Córdoba and Seville under the Castilian branch of the Trastámara dynasty. So, since there are FIVE ratings and FIVE stars for each rating, there must also be a FIVE step process to calculate the Overall Rating (so symetrical!) : According to CMS, the reason for adopting a different system is to give the Health Inspection Rating higher weight in the Overall Rating. See the latest cut rates on this table.Ĭalculating the Overall Star Rating is done differently. Cut-rates are redefined periodically and are published by CMS. The division between star ratings is called the “cut-rate”. The staff ratings and quality measure ratings follow a similar process but the divisions are based on a national ranking. In between 1-star and 5-star, the remaining homes are divided equally into three tranches which correspond with the stars 2 to 4. The top 10 percent of nursing homes (those with the lowest scores) are awarded a 5-star rating the bottom 20 percent (those with the highest scores) are awarded a 1-star rating. For the Health Inspection Rating the nursing homes in each state are ranked based on their weighted three year inspection score. Nursing homes are rated from 1-star to 5-stars with 1-star being the best rating and 5-star being the best rating. The rating system has five separate ratings including: The rating system was initially developed in 2008 and the methodologies are regularly reviewed and updated. The given numbers in the beginning must create a pattern in their allocated squares to make the game more visually appealing to the players. Nikoli also introduced two new rules that became essential to the game as we know it today. Its widespread popularity didn’t come until the game reached Japan in 1984 when Nikoli published it under the name “Suuji wa dokushin ni kaguru” (The numbers must remain single) in the Monthly Nikolist Magazine. The modern Sudoku as we know it nowadays, however, using digits instead of the Latin alphabet, was most likely the creation of Howard Garns, an architect from Indiana who first published his version of the game in the Dell Magazines in 1979. The basis of the game originated in Switzerland in the 18th century when the mathematician Leonhard Euler developed the concept of Latin Squares used in statistical analysis. Sudoku is a number-placement puzzle widely popular in the world, credited with helping to keep the brain active and healthy. Let the cogs on your brain spin and enjoy this relaxing yet challenging puzzle. Don’t rush, analyzed all your possibilities and slowly work your way to fill the grid. Time is not a constraint and only logic is necessary. Experts and pros can also have their fun and enjoy playing with the numbers and possibilities with the hard and evil levels. If you feel confident in your skills from the beginning, you can put them to test with the medium level and face demanding challenges right from the start. The harder the level, the fewer allocated numbers at the beginning of the puzzle.īeginners can start by choosing the easy level to get acquainted with the digits, the grid and the rules of the puzzle. Start by choosing any of the four different levels of difficulty: Double Pairs: If two squares in a row, column, or region can only be two numbers (a pair), then eliminate these two numbers from other squares in that area.Get set, relax and prepare to challenge your brain with this number-placement puzzle anywhere and anytime.Look for Grid Symmetry: Often, the placement of numbers will be symmetric, which can provide clues for placing additional numbers.Subgrid to Grid: Solve numbers in a subgrid and use that information to solve for numbers in the larger grid.Elimination: Determine what numbers cannot be in a square and eliminate them as possibilities, making it easier to see what can be placed there.Single Possibility: If a square has only one possible number that can be placed there, fill it in.Unique Numbers: Every number from 1 to 16 must appear exactly once in each row, column, and 4x4 region. Objective: The goal is to fill the empty cells in such a way that each row, column, and region contains the numbers 1 through 16 without any repetition.Pre-filled Numbers: Some cells in the grid are pre-filled with numbers from 1 to 16.Grid Structure: The puzzle consists of a 16x16 grid, which is further divided into 4x4 subgrids or regions. Some of the squares already contain numbers, and the objective is to fill in the remaining squares. Sudoku 16x16 is a variant of the classic Sudoku puzzle, but, as the name implies, it is played on a larger grid of 16x16 squares. |
